Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about brackets, double elimination resets, OBS broadcast overlays, sponsor monetization, and host tools.
Tournament Pie is the complete tournament organization, live bracket management, and esports broadcast platform. We provide automated single elimination, double elimination (with authentic grand finals resets), round robin league, and Swiss system engines, complete with real-time spectator canvas, live broadcast overlays for OBS/Streamlabs, custom sponsor banner advertisements, and team roster tools.
Yes! Tournament Pie offers a free tier that allows anyone to create up to 3 concurrent active tournaments with up to 16 competitors per bracket, use all tournament formats, broadcast with OBS overlays, manage team rosters, and explore community leaderboards. We also offer a $19.99/month Pro Membership that unlocks unlimited competitors per bracket, unlimited concurrent active tournaments, 100% ad-free spectating, bulk CSV/text roster seeding imports, co-host management permissions, custom branded vanity URLs (/t/your-event), multi-tab Excel (.xlsx) Results Sheet exports, and public competitor score reporting.
No! Public tournament brackets and live spectator URLs can be shared with anyone. Spectators, friends, and participants can follow live match progressions, score updates, and standings in real-time on desktop, tablet, or mobile browsers without creating an account. Only hosts and players submitting scores or reporting bugs require a registered account.
Log in to your account and click "Create" in the navigation header or host dashboard. Choose your tournament name, select your format (Single Elimination, Double Elimination, Round Robin, or Swiss System), set your participant count (4, 8, 16, 32, 64), pick best-of series rules (Bo1, Bo3, Bo5, Bo7), and launch your event. You can then invite players via join code or direct link.
We support Single Elimination, Double Elimination, Round Robin, Swiss System, and Multi-Stage (Pools + Playoffs) formats. Each format includes automatic bracket seeding, customizable best-of series lengths, score governance, third-place consolation matches, and real-time visualization.
In our Double Elimination engine, competitors drop to the Losers Bracket upon their first loss. The undefeated winner of the Winners Bracket faces the winner of the Losers Bracket in the Grand Finals. If the Losers Bracket finalist wins the first set, our engine automatically triggers an authentic "Bracket Reset" sudden-death series to determine the true champion.
In Round Robin leagues, every participant or team competes against every other competitor in their group. Our automated standings table calculates wins, losses, match point differentials, and head-to-head records to rank participants cleanly and resolve ties without manual calculation.
Tournament hosts can review and verify match scores submitted by players. If a dispute or input mistake occurs, authorized hosts and co-hosts can overturn match scores, reset match states, or manually advance the correct participant directly from the tournament bracket view.
Yes! Before Round 1 begins, tournament hosts can drag and swap seed positions, randomize seeds, or replace participant names directly in the bracket editor.
Yes! Tournament Pie is built with live broadcasting in mind. Every tournament includes a dedicated Live Stream Arena view and transparent OBS overlay URLs that you can plug directly into streaming software.
Go to your tournament's Live view, click "Stream Overlay", and copy your unique Browser Source URL. In OBS Studio or Streamlabs, click "+" under Sources, select "Browser", and paste the URL. Note: OBS defaults newly added browser sources to 800×600, which will crop the bottom of the vertical card. Change the Width to 450 (or 1920 for full screen) and Height to 1080 so the tournament logo, live match scores, and sponsor badges render completely with zero cropping. Also check "Shutdown source when not visible" for optimal streaming performance.
Tournament Pie utilizes real-time cloud listeners. Whenever a match score is submitted or a winner advances, the bracket tree, live match indicators, and OBS overlays update instantaneously across all connected screens with zero page reloading.
For team and player logos, square images (512x512 PNG, WebP, or SVG with transparent background) look best. For top sponsor banners, 1200x200 or 728x90 aspect ratios are recommended. File sizes must be under 5MB per upload.
Yes! Competitors and teams can upload custom avatars and team emblems in their profile and team settings. These graphics automatically appear inside bracket match cards, leaderboards, and broadcast overlays.
You can invite players in three ways: 1) Share your tournament's public URL or 6-digit Join Code; 2) Use the "Invite Friends" modal in the header to dispatch email invitations directly; 3) Send direct friend invites within the app to notify mutual players.
Teams feature captain and member roles. Captains can invite new team members, update team branding, manage starting rosters, and register the entire team for tournaments under a unified team banner.
Yes! Pro tournament hosts can add co-host email addresses in tournament settings. Co-hosts can report and verify match scores, manage disputes, and oversee tournament execution alongside the creator.
